D. Lawless Hardware - Free Hardware Friday #6 - Final FHF of 2015!

THIS WEEK'S FREE HARDWARE FRIDAY HAS ENDED.
Merry Christmas and thank you for participating.

This will be our last giveaway of the year as D. Lawless Hardware takes a long holiday break each year. This year our break will be extra long as the normal last day of our break is New Year's day and that is a Friday. So we will be closing December 23rd  and reopening January 4th.

This week the deal is the same as any other week. Write me at the e-mail address at the bottom of this post promising to send me pictures of these knobs in use once you have them installed and giving me permission to use those photos online to promote our products. Then give me your address and how many of which knobs you need and it's on! No other catches, we are on a team and I trust everyone to deliver me the photos at their convenience.

Today we have a selection of ceramic insert knobs from the Liberty Hardware Betsy Fields Collection. These knobs are out of production now, but they are all brand new and in the factory packaging. It's not like hardware goes bad! Home Depot and Lowe's seem to think it does and that's how we get this awesome hardware at prices low enough to give away! :)

Take your pick or take multiple knobs! Here is this week's selection! Each knob is 1 1/4" and features a metal base with a ceramic insert.

Chrome and white...

Black and a burnt red/brown...

Black and turquoise...

And finally, brushed pewter with black...

Write me at lawlesshardware (at) gmail (dot) com and claim your free knobs. Promotion ends towards the end of the day depending on when I get around to it! :)

9 Creative Uses for Cup Pulls and Bin Pulls

Cup pulls are a popular style of cabinet pull because of their ability to be used between different decors. A cup pull  can give the look of mid century modern, rustic, contemporary, or many other styles simply depending on the finish, length of the cup pull, and what piece or room you put them in.

Many style of hardware don't have this versatility. Just imagine putting bar pulls on a rustic farmhouse dresser or in a farmhouse kitchen. It won't look right. But cup pulls have been around long enough that they can be used on pretty well any piece or in any room if you find the right style of cup pull.

Over the last several years we've had the pleasure of having D. Lawless cup pulls and cup pulls from other manufacturers that we also sell used on a variety of DIY and home decor blogs. I've taken the time to compile a list of as many as I could remember. I have linked over to the full article on the respective blogs as well as the cup pull used in the article so that you can see more shots of the hardware in use and gather more ideas for your future projects.

One of the most popular uses for cup pulls is in "farmhouse" style kitchens. In this white farmhouse kitchen makeover from Cherished Bliss the wide antique pewter cup pulls fit perfectly and contrast very well on the white cabinetry.

Next up we have an Ikea Tarva Hack from the DIY blog A House and a Dog. Allison used flat black cup pulls to keep with the primitive look she wanted to keep.

Here we have a unique dresser from Colour Saturated Life out of Australia. The mustard colored dresser looks gorgeous with the small oil rubbed bronze cup pulls!

In this dresser makeover Susan from Saw Nail and Paint took your average maple dresser that can be found at any thrift store and turned it into this beautiful piece with Williams Sonoma cup pulls. The brushed satin silver cup pulls work great with the soft tone of the paint.

This bathroom from Shayna at The Wood Grain Cottage matches her kitchen right around the corner and illustrates another great way to get contrast in a white kitchen. This time use the same oil rubbed bronze cup pulls as on the mustard dresser above. Oil rubbed bronze has a lot of versatility as a finish as you can see by the vastly different use of this pull in each post.

dark oil rubbed bronze cup pulls

This kitchen from Decor Chick does an awesome job of mixing styles as she matches satin nickel cup pulls with some modern stainless steel bar pulls. Going with satin nickel in cup pulls is a good idea if you have stainless steel hardware. No one carries stainless steel cup pulls and they'll be a close enough match that no one can tell the difference.

Now we mix it up a bit with this beautiful made over office credenza from Sarah M. Dorsey Designs that uses four brass Hoosier style cup pulls. The full article is worth a look just to see how shabby this thing was to start!

This duck egg dresser with antique copper cup pulls from Primitive and Proper is absolutely gorgeous! Antique copper is a great finish to use with distressed or wood stained pieces as it goes so well with natural wood colors.

This simple but beautiful sun bleached Ikea hack from Live Love DIY features solid brass Victorian cup pulls. These cup pulls are historic reproduction pieces but they still look great on new furniture.

I'll update this article in the future with some of the posts featuring our cup pulls that I'm sure I've missed and also with the new articles coming out in the future.

D. Lawless Hardware - Free Hardware Friday - #5

THIS PROMOTION HAS ENDED. Another great success! 11 readers took advantage and I'll be getting pictures of all three knobs!

Please check back next week for the final Free Hardware Friday of the year. We close down for about two weeks over the holiday and will restart the promotion the first Friday of the new year.

Each week so far has been a big success in my mind so far. Photos from the first few weeks are coming in  and I'm posting them over at our HomeTalk profile as they do as well as on the product pages. With the help of our participants I have already seen a noticeable uptick in sales that can easily be attributed to the beautiful customer photos I've been able to add to the page. Here is an example of what I'm doing with the photos for those interested: Product Page

Now imagine that product page with no photos! So I am very happy to continue the promotion with three different styles and shades of pewter cabinet knobs.

To participate all you need to do is contact me at lawlesshardware (at) gmail (dot) com. In your e-mail simply include how many of which knob you need and promise me you will send pictures of the product in use once you have them installed. That's all there is to it! Since we started over 50 people have taken advantage of this deal, so it's legit!!

This week's hardware...

The first knob is this brushed pewter concentric knob with a 1 1/2" diameter.

Then this dark pewter rope edge knob with a 1 3/16" diameter.

And finally this rustic swirl knob with a 1 3/8" diameter.

New Product Feature - Antique Copper Knob Making Bases

Our knob and pull making bases are one of our most successful lines over the past two years. In fact, and maybe we're just full of it, but we're pretty sure we are responsible for an entire cottage industry of folks making and selling custom cabinet knobs.

Take a look next time you peruse and Etsy shop and see some beautiful custom cabinet knobs. I'd be money the bases on those knobs come from D. Lawless! Given this success we've been very conscious of the need to expand this line for multiple reasons. First to serve our customers with better options of course! And secondly to make sure anyone thinking about competing with us in this area stays away!

So without anymore rambling, we are happy to announce antique copper as a new finish in our knob making bases section!

D. Lawless Hardware - Free Hardware Friday - Número Cuatro

Free Hardware Friday is here again! Before we get to the hardware I will remind newcomers of the deal...

  1. Each Friday I give away a select piece or pieces of hardware totally free. You can have as many as you want to complete your stated project.
  2. In order to get the hardware the interested party must e-mail me at the address on the bottom of the post and promise to send me nice pictures of the product in use once they have installed it.  Preferably a closeup and also a shot of the full project that it is used on for perspective.
  3. Also I will need written permission to use the photos to promote our products as this is the main benefit to me that allows me to continue the promotion.
  4. I mail you the hardware and wait for the recipient to fulfill their end of the bargain. This is entirely based on trust, I won't be pestering you. You can take your time if need be.
Without further ado, this week we have a choice of these beautiful Grayson hooks from Liberty Hardware.  We have a choice of either satin nickel or brushed brass. The are 2" in diameter and have a projection of 2 7/8".

Oh yea, and this promotion is not limited to a certain number of people, so please spread the word!

Easy DIY Stocking Hangers from Fynes Designs

Here is another holiday DIY project from Fynes Designs on our run up to Christmas! This post was actually put up last November and it was one of the most popular posts we participated in last year. I got the idea to post it up again because the project is really making the rounds on Pinterest again as we near Christmas!

Virginia used a small selection of our acrylic and milk glass knobs to use as the "hooks". The project is absolutely beautiful, especially considering how simple the whole project is. Click through above or on the picture for the full DIY stocking hanger how to at Fynes Designs.
